Dear Roundballers;

Before we introduce our speaker, I need to mention that our meeting will instead be held on MONDAY January the 16th instead of on Wednesday.

This week’s TipOff meeting will feature Sally Jenkins, who is an American sports columnist and feature writer for The Washington Post. She was previously a senior writer for Sports Illustrated.  Jenkins is the author of twelve books, four of which were New York Times bestsellers, including the number 1 bestseller Sum It Up: 1098 Victories, A Couple of Irrelevant Losses and A Life In Perspective, written with legendary basketball coach Pat Summitt, and It’s Not About the Bike written with bicycle racer Lance Armstrong.  Sally Jenkins knew Summitt quite well, writing multiple columns about her friend.The two also collaborated on three books, the first being Summitt’s autobiography, “Reach for the Summit: The Definite Dozen System for Succeeding at Whatever You Do,” in 1999. In 2005 Jenkins became the first woman inducted into the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Hall of Fame. It’s Not About the Bike: My Journey Back to Life won the William Hill Sports Book of the Year award in 2000.

We look forward to seeing you all this Monday at Calhouns on the River! The lunch buffet starts at 11, and the program starts at noon.
